| Background |
Al-Khafji Joint Operations (KJO)Al-Khafji Joint Operations (KJO) plans to expand the crude oil processing facilities at the offshore Khafji Oil Field in the divided zone between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. The processing facilities and water treatment facility will serve as infrastructure to support the planned Al Khafji field expansion. This project is part of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait's plan to increase the divided zone's overall production to 900,000 bpd by 2030. WorleyParsonsWorleyParsons is the FEED study and engineering service consultant. PenspenPenspen is the PMS. |

In March 2012, bids for the EPC contract for the Hout Field Associated Gas Facilities package were submitted. In Q3 2012, the EPC contract for the Hout field associated gas facilities package is expected to be awarded (delayed from Q3 2011). In December 2013, the offshore production facilities package expected to be completed. In Q4 2014, the project is expected to be completed. |
| Previous Events |
In January 2012, fabrication and engineering works for the offshore production facilities package were in progress. On 12 July 2011, the PMS contract was awarded to PenspenPenspen (the contract is part of a 5-year service contract). In February 2011, fabrication work for the offshore facilities started. In Q4 2010, KJO cancelled the PMC tendering process due to insufficient proposals and the FEED study was completed. On 7 October 2010, the EPIC contract for the offshore production facilities was awarded to TechnipTechnip and the fabrication, transportation and installation sub-contract was awarded to China Offshore Oil Engineering Corporation (COOEC). On 28 June 2010, bids for the PMC contract overseeing the development of Al Khafji area were submitted. In March 2006, the FEED study and engineering services contract was awarded to WorleyParsonsWorleyParsons . |
