| Background |
Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company (ADSSC)Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company (ADSSC) plans to construct the first package of the deep sewer tunnel running from the northern part of Abu Dhabi Island to the mainland.
The project aims to replace some of the existing pumping stations in Abu Dhabi and will decrease the pressure on the existing system.
The project includes the construction of a 16.2 Km tunnel length with a 4 m diameter.
This package (T01) is one of the three packages making up the deep tunnel sewer linking the northern part of Abu Dhabi Island to the mainland. The deep sewer tunnel will have a total lenght of 42 km long. The 2 other packages include the construction of a sewer tunnel from the Mussafah area to Mafraq (T01) and a sewer tunnel from Mafraq to Al Wathba (T03).
The deep sewer tunnel is part of a bigger program, the Strategic Tunnel Enhancement Programme (STEP) implemented by ADSSC to handle the increasing volumes of waste management in Abu Dhabi.
