The consortium of KOGAS and the Iraqi Ministry of OilIraqi Ministry of Oil plans to develop the Akkas gas field in Anbar Province, in the Western part of Iraq, near the Syrian border. The project aims at producing 400 million cu.ft/d of gas. |

| Previous Events |
On 13 October 2011, the final deal for the development of the oilfield was officially signed between Kogas and the Iraqi Ministry of OilIraqi Ministry of Oil . In September 2011, the Iraq Cabinet approved the deal for the development of the oilfield by KOGAS. On 1 June 2011, the initial deal for the development of the oilfield was signed between KOGAS and the Iraqi Ministry of OilIraqi Ministry of Oil . In the end of May 2011, KOGAS was asked by the Iraqi Ministry of OilIraqi Ministry of Oil to develop the project alone. On 11 May 2011, KazMunaiGas announced its withdrawal from the project after failure to reach an agreement with the Iraqi government. KOGAS was studying its options to either find a new partner, proceed to develop the project on its own, or withdraw from the deal. No final decision was taken yet. In February 2011, the signing of the gas deal development contract with the Consortium of KOGAS and KazMunayGas was postponed awaiting the local authorities approval (delayed for the second time from 14 November 2010). On 20 October 2010, the Consortium of KOGAS and KazMunayGas was awarded a contract to develop the gas field. |
