NakheelNakheel plans to develop Dubai Waterfront, a real estate waterfront development located in Jebel Ali, 35 Km south west Dubai, extending to the Abu Dhabi border.
The project will comprise 10 districts developed on an 81 million sq. m. area and will accomodate 1.5 million residents upon completion.
Dubai Waterfront will also include a 75 km man-made creek (Arabian Canal), 250 master planned communities including commercial and residential facilities, a marina, a harbor and other related facilities.
The project will also include the Waterfront City, a real estate development that will cover an area of 3.3 million sq.m.
The first phase of the project includes the construction of Down Town Dubai Waterfront, which includes Madinat Al Arab that will be anchored with Al Burj (a tower developed by NakheelNakheel).
The total investment in the first phase is estimated to be USD3.5 billion.

Current Status
The land reclamation and earth works are under execution and are expected to be completed in 2012.
In July 2006, Jan De Nul was awarded the dredging and reclamation contract.
In December 2005, the master plan was completed.

Works include earthmoving, ground improvement, dredging and reclamation.
Development of infrastructure, roads, telecommunications, potable water and sewerage networks.
Construction of a 75 Km water canal.
