NakheelNakheel plans to develop Dubai Waterfront, a mixed use development located in Jebel Ali, 35 Km south west Dubai, extending to the Abu Dhabi border. The project will spread over an area of 130 million sq.m. and will include 10 districts developed. Dubai Waterfront will also include a 75 km man-made creek (Arabian Canal), 250 master planned communities including commercial and residential facilities, a marina, a harbor and other related facilities. The project will also include the Waterfront City, a real estate development that will cover an area of 3.3 million sq.m. The first phase of the project includes the construction of Down Town Dubai Waterfront, which includes Madinat Al Arab that will be anchored with Al Burj (a tower developed by NakheelNakheel ). Upon completion it will accommodate 1.5 million residents. Gruzen Samton is the master plan consultant. |

In October 2011, phase 1 of Vento and Badrah were ongoing and phase 2 of Vento and Badrah and the Waterfront city were still on hold. In March 2012, phase 1 (Veneto) is expected to be completed. In 2018, project is expected to be completed. |

In Q4 2007, the design build (DB) contract was awarded to Mammut GroupMammut Group and MEP works was awarded to Mammut Bauer. In July 2006, the dredging and reclamation contract was awarded to Jan De Nul. In December 2005, the master plan was completed by Gruzen Samton. In 2004, the project was announced. |
