| Background |
The Supreme Committee For Town Planning of Oman plans to construct a 240 km, 4-lane carriageway along the Batinah coast in Oman. The purpose of the project is to ease traffic congestion and contribute to the economical growth and infrastructural development along the Batinah coast. The project will be carried out in phases; phase 1 is around 120 km long and phase 2 is 120 km long. National Engineering Services Pakistan and Partners (NESPAK) is the detailed design and engineering consultant. Consolidated Consultants Engineering and Environment is the PMC. |

In May 2011, the design of phase 2 was ongoing and construction of phase 1 was in progress. In May 2010, construction of phase 1 started. In February 2010, Consolidated Consultants Engineering and Environment was in negotiations with the Supreme Committee For Town Planning regarding the progress of the project. In Q4 2009, the PMC contract was awarded to Consolidated Consultants Engineering and Environment. In September 2009, the construction contract for section 1 of phase 1 was awarded to Makyol and the construction contract for section 2 of phase 1 was awarded to Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC). On 18 August 2008, bidders submitted their proposals for the PMC contract. On 5 November 2008, the ITB for the construction contract of phase 1 was issued. On 26 January 2008, the ITB for the PMC contract was issued. In March 2006, the design consultancy contract was awarded to National Engineering Services Pakistan and Partners (NESPAK). In November 2005, bidders submitted their proposals for the design consultancy contract. In October 2005, the ITB for the design consultancy contract was issued. |
