Saudi Arabian Oil CompanySaudi Arabian Oil Company (AramcoAramco ) plans to undertake a gas development program at the Wasit, North of Dahran. The development is part of Saudi AramcoAramco 's plan that aims at increasing gas supplies by producing an additional 50 trillion cu.ft of non-associated gas reserves by 2016. The development program is divided into three separate packages. Package 1 includes onshore gas-processing facilities at the Manifa oilfield, package 2 covers the construction of the offshore facilities at Hasbah and package 3 includes the construction of the offshore facilities at Arabiyah. SNC LavalinSNC Lavalin is the over all PMC and FEED study consultant. |

In May 2012, construction of the Arabiyah and Hasbah offshore packages was delayed and construction of the onshore packages and the industrial support facilities was ongoing. The site preparations package was completed. In December 2013, construction is expected to be completed. In Q4 2015, the gas plant is expected to begin operations marking the completion of the project. |

On 8 June 2011, the LOI for the construction sub-contract for the onshore packages was signed between Mohammad Al Mojil GroupMohammad Al Mojil Group and SK Engineering and ConstructionSK Engineering and Construction . The sub-contract includes mechanical, electrical and civil works. On 28 February 2011, the EPC contracts for the offshore packages were awarded to SaipemSaipem . On 25 January 2011, the EPC contracts for the onshore packages were awarded. The EPC contracts for the Sulphur Recovery Units, NGL Fractionation Plant and Gas Processing Unit packages were awarded to SK Engineering and ConstructionSK Engineering and Construction and the EPC contract the EPC contract for the Power Co-generation Unit package was awarded to Samsung EngineeringSamsung Engineering . In November 2010, site preparation work started. In September 2010, the EPC contract for the site preparations package was awarded to Abdulali Al-Ajmi CompanyAbdulali Al-Ajmi Company . In June 2010, the FEED study was completed. In October 2009, the FEED study started. On 21 September 2009, the combined overall FEED study and PMS contracts was awarded to SNC LavalinSNC Lavalin . On 22 August 2009, bids for the combined overall FEED study and PMS contract were submitted. In July 2009, the ITB for the combined overall FEED study PMS contract was issued. In 2008, the Arabiyah gas field was discovered. |
