| Background |
The New Doha Port Steering Committee plans to develop phase 1 of the New Doha Port, which is located in Economic Zone number 3, Al Wakrah, south of Mesaieed area. Phase 1 includes excavation, dredging works, a harbor basin, general cargo berths and emiri yachts. It will have a capacity of 2 million 20-foot equivalent units per year. The New Doha port will be developed in 3 phases. Phase 2 will include a container terminal and an extension to the harbor basin. Phase 3 will include a container terminal, berths, an administration and customs complex and a tug and pilot boats berth area.The new port will be linked to the mainland by an 8.5 km long trestle bridge. Upon completion, the new port will have a capacity of 6 million 20-foot equivalent units per year. Scott Wilson Group is the conceptual design consultant. Worley ParsonsWorley Parsons is the detailed design consultant. Royal Haskoning is the master plan consultant. COWICOWI is the technical consultant. AECOMAECOM is the PMC. |
