Ilyas and Mustafa Galadari GroupIlyas and Mustafa Galadari Group plans to develop City of Arabia, a community development in Dubailand, Dubai. The project will cover an area of 1.8 million sq.m. comprising 3 main components: Mall of Arabia, the largest shopping mall in the region; Restless Planet, a dinosaur-themed park; and Wadi Walk including 34 low-rise mixed use towers. The project will be connected to the Dubai RTA Purple Line, and the 3 developments within the project will be linked via a monorail. P&T Architects & Engineers is the engineering and design consultant, Hyder ConsultingHyder Consulting is the infrastructure consultant and Hill InternationalHill International is the PMC. |

In May 2011, the project was still on hold and no expected date to resume work was yet revealed. In Q4 2010, the project was put on hold. In April 2010, Mall of Arabia was put on hold. In July 2009, the main construction contract for 34 low-rise towers in Wadi Walk was awarded to Dhabi Contracting, and the construction of the roads in the city was completed. In January 2009, 90% of the infrastructure work was completed. In 2007, the shoring contract of Wadi Walk was awarded to Zetas. In September 2007, the construction contract of phase 1 of Mall of Arabia was awarded to Dhabi Contracting, and the PMC contract was awarded to Hill InternationalHill International . In August 2006, the infrastructure contract was awarded to Jv of Al Habtoor Leighton and Kier Dubai. In 2005, City of Arabia was announced and the Design Build contract for Restless Planet was awarded to Jack Rouse Associates. |

Construction of an 1.8 million sq. m. community development including: - Restless Planet including the construction of a 75 m. tall dome, a 46,000 sq.m. building, an earth science museum, a planetarium, rides, special-effects theaters and interactive museums. - Wadi Walk including the construction of a 10 km long canal, 38,000 sq.m. retail area, 34 mixed use low-rise towers, 1,640 apartments, cafes and shops. - Mall of Arabia including the construction of over 1,000 shops, 120 food outlets, a cinema complex, bowling alleys, a hypermarket, underground parking facility (10,400 cars) and a rooftop hotel. |
