Kingdom Holding Company (KHCKHC ) plans to build the Mile High Tower in Jeddah. Mile High Tower could reach a height of 1,600 meters (one mile), the total built up area is 170,000 sq.m. The tower is part of the Kingdom City, a community development including residential units, commercial space, office area, education vicinity, entertainment facilities and hotels. Hyder ConsultingHyder Consulting and Arup are the project consultants. Omrania and Associates and Pickard Chilton are the project architects. Bechtel is the PMC. |

In Q4 2009, the JV of Pickard Chilton and Hyder ConsultingHyder Consulting dropped from the design consultancy bidding. In September 2009, Kingdom Holding shortlisted three contracting groups for the DB contract: JV of Samsung Corporation and Arabtec Construction, Multiplex and Saudi Binladin Group. In September 2009, bids were under evaluation for the design consultancy contract. The shortlisted companies are: Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill Architecture, and the JV of Pickard Chilton and Hyder ConsultingHyder Consulting . In July 2009, Emaar Properties was preparing a shortlist of seven architects for the contract to draw up the concept design. In June 2009, the Kingdom Holding Company signed an agreement with Emaar Properties to supervise the project. In February 2009, the project was put on hold. In 2009, the ITB was initially expected to be issued (delayed from Q4 2008). In January 2009, KHCKHC decided to move forward with the project despite the Companie's USD3.9 billion loss during 2008.
