| Background |
Al FuttaimAl Futtaim Group Real Estate plans to develop Cairo Festival City, a community development located 20 km south east Cairo in New Cairo City.
The project will be spread over an area of 3 million sq.m and will consist of 5 districts: a residential district, a retail district and 3 business districts (southern, southeast and northern).
Cairo Festival City includes a festival center together with a festival village which will form an indoor/outdoor shopping and entertainment area. The project will also consist of a 60,000 sq.m automotive park, 481 villas (Spanish, Italian and French) and other residential buildings, a hospital and educational buildings.
Festival City will also include two international hotels.
The project will be implemented in phases. Phase 1 will includes automotive park and 172 villas, phase 2 will include residential area (town houses), and phase 3 will include 180 apartments and townhouses.

In June 2008, the groundbreaking ceremony took place.
In May 2008, the joint venture of Al FuttaimAl Futtaim Carillion and Orascom Construction IndustriesOrascom Construction Industries was awarded the construction contract for the sub-structure works of the Festival Center.
In 2007, construction of the automotive park was completed.
In 2005, construction of the school was completed. |
