| Background |
The joint venture of Qatar PetroleumQatar Petroleum and Qatar Shell GTL plans to construct an integrated GTL complex in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar. The Pearl GTL project includes the development of offshore natural gas resources in Qatar's North Field, transporting and processing the gas to extract natural gas liquids and ethane, and the conversion of the remaining gas into clean liquid hydrocarbon products through the construction of the integrated GTL complex in Ras Laffan Industrial City. The Pearl GTL complex will consist of two 70,000 bpd GTL trains and two 60,000 bpd NGL plants with their associated facilities. The plant will produce a range of clean liquid products and fuels, comprising naphtha, GTL fuel, normal paraffins, kerosene and lubricant base oils. The JV of MW Kellogg and JGC is the FEED study consultant. |

| Previous Events |
In June 2011,commissioning of the plants was in progress. In January 2011, construction was near completion. QP and Qatar Shell GTL signed a frame agreement with Technip whereby Technip will assist in maintenance, commissioning and any future scope changes or expansion. In July 2008, Shell announced that 45%of the project was completed. In Q1 2007, construction of the plants started. In 2006, all major EPC contracts were awarded. In November 2005, FEED studies were completed. In July 2004, Qatar PetroleumQatar Petroleum and Qatar Shell GTL signed the Development and Production Sharing Agreement (DPSA). In March 2004, the FEED contract was awarded to the JV of MW Kellogg and JGC. |
