SonatrachSonatrach plans to construct a 300,000 bpd oil refinery in Tiaret (Hauts Plateaux mountains).
The feasibility study, carried out by Jacobs Consultancy and HSBCHSBC, was finalised in Q3 2007. SonatrachSonatrach will carry out the engineering development of the project.
SonatrachSonatrach started the tendering process to form a joint venture with an international partner (that would hold a 35% stake) to develop the refinery, but stopped the bid evaluation and canceled the tendering in mid 2006. As of October 2007, SonatrachSonatrach is reconsidering launching the partnership.
The Tiaret refinery will process Saharan Blend crude oil. |
| Current Status |
As of February 2008, SonatrachSonatrach is carrying out the engineering development of the project. The ITB for the EPC contract is expected to be issued in Q1 2009.
In Q3 2007, the feasibility study was finalised.
As of October 2007, SonatrachSonatrach is reconsidering seeking an international partner. |
