Barwa Real Estate CompanyBarwa Real Estate Company plans to build Barwa City, a residential development located in Musaimeer, Doha. Barwa City will cover an area of 97,000 million sq. m. and will include a 40-storey 4-star hotel, 7 schools, a 200-bed hospital, mosques, parks, shopping complexes, health facilities and oter several facilities. The project will be implemented in 2 phases: phase 1 will include 128 buildings, 1024 studio units, 6,000 residential units, two K-12 school, health and fitness club, central park, multipurpose hall, commercial zone, and infrastructure works; and phase 2 will include 2,000 units, a 250 bed hospital, a bank, a school, a retail outlet, and a commercial complex. Barwa City will accommodate 25,000 people. AECOMAECOM is the design consultant for phase 1, Cansult Maunsell is the design consultant for phase 2 and Qatar Project Management CompanyQatar Project Management Company (QPM) is the PMC. |

In March 2012, phase 1 was completed (delayed from Q4 2011). In December 2010, the construction of the amenities started. In late September 2010, the design for the amenities was completed and excavation works started. In June 2010, a Design Build contract for amenities in phase 1 was awarded to Shapoorji Pallonji (worth USD 185.6 million) and 50% of the construction work in phase 1 was completed. In May 2007, the infrastructure and construction contract for phase 1 was awarded to Bilfinger Berger. |
