QatalumQatalum plans to develop an anode service plant, part of an aluminum smelter in Mesaieed Industrial City, Qatar. The smelter will have a capacity of 585,000 t/y and could be expanded to a capacity of approximately 1.2 million t/y. |

On 12 April 2010, the plant was officially inaugurated. In March 2010, the second cleaning plant was handed over. In February 2010, the rodding plant and one bath cleaning plant was handed over. On 20 December 2009, QatalumQatalum first electrolysis cell started production of liquid aluminum metal marking the start of primary aluminum production. In January 2008, civil works started. In 2007, Kempe awarded Qatar Building Company a contract for the civil works. In 2007, QatalumQatalum awarded Kempe Engineering Service the EPC contract for the anode service plant. |

Construction of an anode service plant including civil works, mechanical and electrical equipment and systems for the following: - Anode rodding plant, with necessary lifting equipment, conveyor systems and special vehicles - Two bath cleaning plants, including bath crushing lines and anode, butt and pallet stores - Non-process and auxiliary equipment - Anode rod assemblies and pallets The civil works contract include: - Infrastructure construction works including concrete slabs - sewerage, stormwater drainage, potable water, irrigation, telecommunication and roads networks |
