Background The Ministry of Energy and Mineral ResourcesMinistry of Energy and Mineral ResourcesLoading... (MEMR) plans to develop a wind farm in Fujeij, located near Shobak, 200 km south of Amman.

The wind farm will have a power generation capacity of 80 to 90 MW. The wind farm's capacity can be increased to 250 MW in the future.

The National Electric Power CompanyNational Electric Power CompanyLoading... (NEPCo) will purchase the electricity produced under a 20 year PPA.

On 8 May 2009, MEMR issued the RFQ for the BOO contract.

The World BankWorld BankLoading...'s Global Environmental Facility will finance the project by providing MEMR a grant which will be used to promote wind power projects in Jordan. The grant will be partly used to pay for the power generated from the Fujeij wind IPP.
