| Background |
National Electric Power CompanyNational Electric Power Company (NEPCO) plans to develop Jordan's third IPP in the east of Amman. The purpose of the project is to meet the increasing national demand for electricity in the region. The plant was previously planned to be located in Zarqa but the location was changed to the east of Amman. The oil-fired power plant will use either steam turbines or diesel engines. The plant will use natural gas if the oil feedstock is unavailable in the future. NEPCO will buy the electricity produced. K&M Engineering and Consulting is the technical consultant. |
