| Background |
The QAPCO EP2 Expansion Project will increase the production of ethylene from the present capacity of 525,000 t/y to 720,000 t/y. EPC contract was carried out by JGC Middle East. For project execution, JGC worked together with Stone & WebsterStone & Webster and CTCI Corporation of Taiwan. JGC CorporationJGC Corporation awarded CCCCCC a USD45 million sub contract to provide construction services. Qatar PetroleumQatar Petroleum will provide ethane gas feedstock. The main product, ethylene, will be used as feed for downstream polyethylene, vinyl chloride plants, as well as for export, while by-products will be sent for processing to customers located within the Mesaieed industrial site. 50,000 t/y of the additional ethylene will be provided to Qatar Vinyl Company (QVC)Qatar Vinyl Company (QVC) , while the remaining 150,000 t/y will be exported. Stone & WebsterStone & Webster supplied ethylene cracking process. |

Expansion of the ethane cracker by constructing a parallel train to the existing one. Installation of racking furnace, pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, and ground flares. Work also includes revamping of sulfur recovery unit. |
