In December 2009, IDA granted Al Nahda Company for Industries an extended license after reviewing its existing license due to start-up delays. In August 2009, the civil works contract was awarded to Esaco. The deal includes all civil construction of the whole plant and most of the steel structure. On 27 November 2008, the USD 240 million EPC contract was awarded to Tianjin Cement Industry Design and Research Institute (TCDRI). In October 2007, the IDA granted Al Nahda Company a license to build the plant. |

In November 2009, National Bank of EgyptNational Bank of Egypt and Banque MisrBanque Misr arranged a USD 200 million loan for Al Nahda Company to finance the project. The loan amount was covered by 8 banks, including National Bank of EgyptNational Bank of Egypt (USD 33 million), Banque MisrBanque Misr (USD 67 million), Banque du CaireBanque du Caire (USD 58 million) and the Export Development Bank of EgyptExport Development Bank of Egypt (USD 42 million). |
