Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries CompanyOman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (ORPICORPIC ) plans to expand the Sohar Refinery in Sohar Industrial Port, Oman. The expansion aims at increasing the capacity of crude and long residue from 116,400 bpd to 187,000 bpd, as well as increasing naphtha capacity to 1.5 million t/y. Universal Oil Products (UOP) and KBRKBR are the feasibility study consultants. Engineers India Limited is the value maximization study consultant. CB&I Lummus is the overall PMC, Engineering Design and FEED study consultant. |

In March 2012, the overall FEED study was ongoing. In June/July 2012, the overall FEED study is expected to be completed and the ITB for the EPC contract for all packages is expected to be issued (delayed from August 2011). In Q1 2013, the EPC contract for the different units is expected to be awarded. In Q4 2015, the project is expected to be completed. |

In January 2012, ORPCORPC was in the process of prequalifying companies for the EPC contract. 35 companies bought the bid documents and only 15 will be shortlisted for EPC tenders, however the names of the companies were not yet disclosed. In August 2011, the overall and FEED study was still ongoing by CB&I Lummus In May 2011, the prequalification for the EPC contract for all packages was launched. On 18 May 2011, the overall combined FEED and PMC contract were officially signed between Oman Refineries and CB&I Lummus. In April 2011, the overall combined FEED and PMC contract was officially signed between ORPCORPC and CB&I Lummus (delayed from March 2011). Three engineering and technology licensing contracts were awarded for three units including : Solvent De-Asphalting Unit that was awarded to the JV of UOP and Foster WheelerFoster Wheeler , the Hydrocracker Unit awarded to Chevron Lummus Global and sulphur recovery unit awarded to Black & VeatchBlack & Veatch . On 28 February 2011, bidders submitted their proposals for the overall basic design engineering contract. On 26 February 2011, the overall combined FEED and PMC contract was awarded to CB&I Lummus. On 6 December 2010, bids for the overall combined FEED and PMC contract were submitted. In July 2010, the ITB for the overall combined FEED and PMC contract was issued. In 2010, the feasibility study was approved by Oman’s Financial Affairs & Energy Resources Council. |
