Previous Events In March 2011, the supply and installations contract was awarded to Siemens VAI.

In 2007, planning for the project started (however the project was put on hold after the financial crises and then it was resumed again).
Scope of Work Construction of a steel plant including:

-Ultra high power 110 tons electric arc furnace
-110 tons ladle furnace
-6 strand high speed billet caster coupled with sophisticated fume extraction system for zero emission
Financing Source Deal will be financed by International Bank of Qatar and Union National Bank.

Qatar steel signed a 250 million loan with two local banks and will use proceeds from the deal to build the new steel making plant.
