Background The Qatar Electricity and Water CompanyQatar Electricity and Water CompanyLoading... (QEWC) plans to construct Ras Abu Fontas Power plant B2 (RAF-B2) as an expansion of the existing power and desalination plants RAF-B and B1.

Under the agreement signed between Qatar General Electricity and Water CorporationQatar General Electricity and Water CorporationLoading... (Kahramaa) and QEWC, RAF B2 will provide Kahramaa an additional 567 MW of power and 30 million g/d of desalinated water for 25 years.

In April 2005, the ITB for the EPC contract was issued.
Scope of Work Construction of 567 MW power plant and 30 million g/d desalination plant including 3 GE frame FA gas turbines, 2 heat recovery boilers, 2 multi stage flash distillers and associated facilities.
Financing Source In June 2006,Financial closure was reached.

The debt is USD485.5 million and the tenor is 25 years.

The six mandated lead arrangers (MLAs) are Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, CalyonCalyonLoading..., HSBCHSBCLoading..., Gulf International BankGulf International BankLoading..., Qatar National Bank, and Commercial Bank of Qatar.

HSBCHSBCLoading... is the financial adviser for the client.
