The construction of the Jebel Ali container terminal is divided into 5 phases.The first phase, MCC2, is already awarded and in execution.
The second phase, MCC3, involves reclamation works and dredging of 22.5 million cu.m. of material to increase the port's capacity from 9 million to 11 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent container units) in March 2008 then to 14 million TEU in February 2009.
Upon completion in 2030, Jebel Ali's container terminal total capacity will be 80 million TEUs.
