Background Bahrain Bay DevelopmentBahrain Bay DevelopmentLoading... plans to build the Bahrain Bay, a residential, business, and commercial development located at the northeastern shore of Manama, Bahrain.

The project will be executed in three phases. Phase 1 includes land reclamation of a 430,000 sq.m. area and infrastructure works. Phase 2 includes the construction of anchor developments (Four Seasons Hotel and ArcapitaArcapitaLoading... headquarter). Phase 3 includes the construction of all other developments (such as CapitaLand Raffles City).

The community will be an island connected by 2 bridges that form an inner harbor.

Skidmore Owings and Merrill (SOM) is the architect, Artifex is the landscape design consultant for Four Seasons Hotel, AtkinsAtkinsLoading... is the design & engineer consultant, and Turner International is the PMC.

Latest Events In December 2011, the Raffles City (in phase 3) was still on hold and no expected date to resume work was yet revealed, and the construction works for the Four Seasons Hotel were still ongoing.

In April 2014, phase 2 (including Four Seasons Hotel) is expected to be completed.
Previous Events In November 2011, construction works of the Four Seasons Hotel started.

In October 2011, the construction contract for the Four Seasons Hotel was awarded to Six Construct.

In Q1 2011, the piling works of Four Seasons Hotel was completed.

In January 2011, phase 1 infrastructure works were completed.

In November 2010, the construction was ongoing and infrastructure works (phase 1) were completed.

In September 2010, the ArcapitaArcapitaLoading... headquarter ( in phase 2) was completed.

In H2 2009, Raffles City was put on hold.

In January 2008, the USD 22 million infrastructure contract was awarded to Ahmed Mansoor Al A'ali CompanyAhmed Mansoor Al A'ali CompanyLoading... and work started.

In 2008, the piling contract for the Four Seasons Hotel was awarded to Dutch Foundation Company.

In December 2007, Salhia Real Estate CompanySalhia Real Estate CompanyLoading... (SREC) signed the land purchase agreement to develop a USD 125 million commercial and retail tower in the same district as ArcapitaArcapitaLoading... headquarters and Raffles City.

In March 2007, ArcapitaArcapitaLoading... signed the LOI with Ajmera Group and Myfair Housing to develop a USD 150 million housing project in Bahrain Bay; and the USD160 million construction contract for the ArcapitaArcapitaLoading... headquarters was awarded to JV of Nass Contracting CompanyNass Contracting CompanyLoading... and Murray & Roberts Contractors Middle East.

In 2007, the dredging and reclamation work was completed and construction started.

In May 2006, the dredging and land reclamation contract was awarded to Netherlands' Royal Boskalis WestminsterRoyal Boskalis WestminsterLoading....

In May 2006, CapitaLand signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop the USD 600 million Raffles City.

In 2006, project was announced.
Scope of Work Dredging of a 2.5 million sq. m. area. and land reclamation of a 430,000 sq. m. area.

Infrastructure works including a 6 km road network, water network, sewage network, a 4.5 km storm drainage (4.5 km), irrigation water network, a 5 km telecommunication network, and 4 bridges that connect key components of the project and Manama shore.

Development of the following:
- Zone 1: South Marina, water residences, and Yacht Club
- Zone 2: Hotel Residential South Green Park (consisting of a hotel, 2 residential towers, and South Green Park)
- Zone 3: Ocean Front West Coast Community (consisting of residential units, recreational spaces, plazas, bridges, and small-boat marina)
- Zone 4: Canal Townhouses
- Zone 5: Gate Tower (an office tower)
- Zone 6: Ocean Front North Coast Community (a residential neighborhood)
- Zone 7: North Tower (an office tower)
- Raffles City: Apartments, villas, retail outlets, restaurants, and residences (230,000 sq. m. built-up area)
- ArcapitaArcapitaLoading...'s headquarter (18,000 sq. m. of office space)
- Four Seasons Hotel: (68,000 sq.m. of 201 m. tall tower with 50 storeys, 263 rooms, and will include a 5 star spa and leisure facilities, a"Sky Pod" restaurant,a hi-tech business centre, a multi-use ballroom, a banqueting hall , and 4 dining outlets.)
Financing Source Bahrain's Ahli Bank financed USD 150 million for the infrastructure works.
