Background The Iraqi Ministry of OilIraqi Ministry of OilLoading... plans to build an oil pipeline from Basra in the South of Iraq to Haditha, in the Western Anbar governorate in Iraq.

This project is phase one of the Ministry's plan to rehabilitate and expand the country's oil and gas pipeline network.

Phase one compromises a 1.75 million bpd pipeline from Basra in the South of Iraq to Haditha, in the Western Anbar governorate. At that point the pipeline will then split into two lines; one going westwards to the Syrian border and the other joining the northern export pipeline from Kirkuk to Ceyhan in Turkey.

The project will also include a natural gas pipeline to supply the pumping stations in addition to a storage terminal and tanks in Basra, Haditha and Baiji, 200km from Baghdad.
