Previous Events In March 2011, Saudi Arabian Oil Company (AramcoAramcoLoading...) and SinopecSinopecLoading... signed the initial joint venture agreement to develop the refinery.

In December 2010, a sub-contract to supply delayed coker furnaces for the project was awarded to Petro-Chem Zamil Company.

In August 2010, engineering work started.

On 28 July 2010, the EPC contract was officially signed between AramcoAramcoLoading... and Tecnicas ReunidasTecnicas ReunidasLoading....

In June 2010, AramcoAramcoLoading... decided to move ahead with the project alone and formed a new company known as the "Red Sea Refining CompanyRed Sea Refining CompanyLoading..." to execute the project.

On 21 April 2010, ConocoPhillipsConocoPhillipsLoading... announced that it withdrew from the project JV.

On 26 January 2010, bids for the EPC contract were submitted.

On 5 August 2009, the combined PMC and FEED study contract was awarded to KBRKBRLoading....

In June 2009, the ITB for the EPC contract was re-issued.

In April 2009, pre-qualification applications were submitted for the EPC contract.

On 6 November 2008, AramcoAramcoLoading... and ConocoPhillipsConocoPhillipsLoading... announced their decision to halt the bidding process.

13 December 2008 was the initial deadline for the commercial and technical bids submission for the EPC contract (delayed from 3 November 2008).

In July 2008, the ITB for the EPC contract was issued.
