| Background |
The Etihad Passenger Terminal is part of Abu Dhabi's AirportAbu Dhabi's Airport expansion, planned by the Supervision Committee for Expansion of Abu Dhabi International Airport (SCADIA), to increase passenger traffic from the current 7 million to above 40 million per year and cargo capacity to 2.5 million t/y. The project is part of the phase 1 construction package and involves the construction of a 7 million passenger terminal that will cover a built-up area of 90,000 sq.m. and will be connected to the existing main terminal structure to be dedicated to Etihad's Airway's operations. Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM) is the master plan consultant and Parsons InternationalParsons International is the PMC. |

In Q1 2009, the final phase of the project including the duty free, retail, food and beverage village was completed. In October 2008, the construction of bus gates and lounges was completed. In September 2006, the design build (DB) contract was awarded to the joint venture of Al Habtoor EngineeringAl Habtoor Engineering and Murray & Roberts. In March 2006, the ITB was issued. |

Construction of a 90,000 sq. m. passenger terminal including: - 8 gates - A hardstand gate - Passenger and baggage handling areas - Office and maintenance areas. Supply and installation of passenger loading bridges and fixed bridges involving MEP and civil infrastructure works. |
