Previous Events
In December 2007, the Suez Canal AuthoritySuez Canal Authority postponed the plans to deepen the canal from 66 to 72 feet. A plan to widen the canal from 68km to 98km might be considered.
In Q4 2007, the project is in the planning phase, waiting for the completion of the current dredging operation.

Financing Source
The Suez Canal AuthoritySuez Canal Authority (SCA) is financing the expansion of the Suez Canal by increasing the canal transit fees by around 3 percent in March 2006. A plan to institute another 2 to 2.8 percent increase in March 2007 is under way.
