| Background |
Lusail Real Estate Development CompanyLusail Real Estate Development Company plans to build Lusail Development, a community development located in North of Doha. The project will spread over an area of 38 million sq.m. and will contain 18 different districts and will include a blue water lagoon with two marinas, 25,000 residential units housing 200,000 people, high and low-rise buildings, commercial districts and mixed-use areas, retail, leisure and entertainment facilities, two golf courses, 22 schools, a hospital and an entertainment district and resorts. Lusail development will also include an underground metro and will be linked to the New Doha Rail Network. The project is divided to 12 infrastructure packages (CP1 to CP12) and 1 landscape package (CP10). Sinohydro of China carried out the initial marine, earthworks and site preparation. The Consortium of COWI A/S Qatar, HalcrowHalcrow International Partnership and Hyder ConsultingHyder Consulting prepared the detailed infrastructure plans and will supervise construction for the next 5 years. In June 2012, the underground car parks package is expected to be completed. In Q2 2012, CP1 package is expected to be completed. In January 2013, CP5 A is expected to be completed. In 2013, package 6A is expected to be completed. In Q3 2014, CP5 B is expected to be completed. In 2018, the project is expected to be completed. |

On 18 January 2012, the ITB for the construction contract of package CP4 was issued. In December 2011, the construction work was ongoing. In July 2011, ITB for infrastructure contract CP6 C was issued. In May 2011, CP2 package was completed (delayed from 2010). In October 2010, the construction work on the first marina started. In August 2010, construction contract to build the marinas in the Marina District was awarded to MourjanMourjan Marinas IGY and the infrastructure works started on CP1, CP2, CP5A and CP6A. In the end of May 2010, the infrastructure package CP5 A and CP6 A (worth USD 286 million) was awarded to Combined Group for Trading and Contracting Company. In March 2010, the master plan of the project was completed. In Q4 2008, the ITB for the pre-qualification of packages CP3 and CP4 was issued. In March 2008, the infrastructure packages CP1 and CP2 were awarded to Sinohydro and Al Jaber GroupAl Jaber Group respectively. In December 2007, Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment CompanyQatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company signed an agreement with Bahrain's Arcapita Bank to launch a joint venture company, Diar Infrastructure Services Company to develop, own and operate the utility requirements and infrastructure services at the Lusail development.
