| Background |
Cairo Electricity Production CompanyCairo Electricity Production Company (CEPC) plans to install steam turbine generators and condensers (STG) in the North Giza power plant. This package comprises of two 250 MW steam turbine generators and condensers. The steam turbine generators consist of one of the four packages of the combined cycle power plant. The 3 other packages include the civil works and heat recovery steam generators and combustion turbines generators. The North Giza power plant is part of the Egyptian electricity sector's on-going program to meet the increasing demand for electricity generation. |

In November 2011, the EPC contract for the STG and condensers package was awarded to Ansaldo Energia (delayed from January 2011). In October 2011, the bids for the EPC contract for the STG and condensers package were still under evaluation. In May 2011, the bids for the EPC contract were under evaluation. On 20 October 2010, bidders submitted their proposals for the EPC contract. On 30 June 2010, the ITB for the EPC contract was issued. |

Design, fabrication, delivery, transportation to the site, unloading, storing, erecting, testing, starting-up, commissioning and maintaining of 2x250 MW steam turbine generators and condensers. |
| Financing Source |
In October 2010, a USD 417 million loan was signed with the European Investment Bank to finance the project. In June 2010, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), a subsidiary of the World Bank, approved a USD 600 million loan to EEHC. The loan will be used to pay for the steam turbine generators and condensers. |
