Background The Public Works AuthorityPublic Works AuthorityLoading... (Ashghal) of Qatar plans to develop a crossing at Doha Bay.

The crossing will pass through the airport and port area, Doha corniche, West Bay and the Lusail developments.

The crossing will be developed either as a bridge across Doha bay, a tunnel under the bay or a tunnel that runs under the corniche.

Latest Events In April 2012, the bids for the PMC contract were submitted.

In Q2 2012, the PMC contract is expected to be awarded and a decision regarding the facility type of the project is expected to be made; once decided, the schedule of the project will be determined.
Previous Events In January 2012, the authorities were still evaluating the options on whether to implement the project as a tunnel, bridge or causeway.

In June 2010, the feasibility study was completed (delayed from Q4 2009). The study recommended the project to be implemented as a subsea tunnel. However, the authorities were looking at two other options: a bridge or a causeway.

In March 2008, the feasibility study consultancy contract was awarded to COWI QatarCOWI QatarLoading....
