Phase 3 will include a container terminal, berths, an administration and customs complex and a tug and pilot boats berth area. It will support the industrial development in the area and will be developed in phases to reach a final capacity of 6 million 20 TEU per year by 2030. The first phase of the project will give the port a capacity of 2 million 20 TEU per year. The existing Doha port is likely to be decommissioned due to the site's physical constraints on expansion projects.
