Dubai MunicipalityDubai Municipality plans to build phase 1 of Jebel Ali Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Jebel Ali, Dubai, UAE. This project is part of Dubai MunicipalityDubai Municipality 's plan to provide modern infrastructure and to keep pace with the population growth expected over the next 25 years. The first phase of the plant will produce 300,000 cu.m./d of treated water. The first phase is divided into two stages: each stages consists of 150,000 cu.m./d Jebel Ali sewage treatment project is a grassroot plant that will include four phases in order to reach a capacity of 1.2 million cu.m./d. The project will be built on a 6.7 million sq.m. desert site south east of Jebel Ali free zoneJebel Ali free zone and treated wastewater will be used for irrigating parks, golf courses, fields and road verges. The designs for the project will involve new technologies such as conventional activated sludge employing a modified Ludzack-Ettinger (MLE) reactor, nitrogen removal plant and ultra violet disinfection making the plant one of the largest UV plants in the world. Montgomery Watson (MWH) of the US is the consultant. |

In April 2010, the sewage pipeline for the second stage was under construction. In September 2009, the sewage pipeline for the first 150,000 cu.m./d was completed. In August 2009, the work on the irrigation pipeline was completed. In April 2007, the EPC contract was awarded to the JV of Al Ahmadiah AktorAl Ahmadiah Aktor & Aktor SA. In October 2006, the ITB for the EPC contract was issued. |
