The Saudi Ministry of Higher EducationSaudi Ministry of Higher Education and Ministry of FinanceMinistry of Finance plan to construct a monorail in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The purpose of the project is to serve Princess Nora University.
The 14 Km long monorail will link the facilities within the university.
Princess Nora University will spread over an 8 million sq. m. area and will include an administration building, a library, laboratories, conference centers, academic buildings, a hospital, and related facilities.

In H2 2009, the construction of the monorail started.
On 21 August 2009, the construction contract was awarded to the consortium led by Saudi Binladin GroupSaudi Binladin Group. The consortium also includes Ansaldo STS and AnsaldoBreda. Saudi Binladin GroupSaudi Binladin Group will execute the construction works, Ansaldo STS will be responsible for the installation of tle electro-mechanical systems, and AnsaldoBrenda will supply the trains. The award was delayed from July 2009.
On 4 April 2009, bidders submitted their proposals for the construction contract. The bids submission deadline was delayed from 28 March 2009.
In December 2008, the ITB for the construction contract was issued. |
