| Background |
Abu Dhabi Gas IndustriesAbu Dhabi Gas Industries (GascoGasco ) plans to construct sulphur forming, granulation and handling facilities located approximately 16 km south east of the existing Habshan Gas Plant Complex and about 32 km south of the intersection of Highway E11 and Tarif (Abu Al Abyadh), UAE. The project is package 7A of the Shah Sour Gas Field Development project. It belongs to the series of developments that aim at increasing the sulphur production capacity to 7 million t/y by 2015. The facilities will be used to granulate sulphur which will be transported in its solid form by rail to the sulphur handling terminal at Ruwais. Fluor CorporationFluor Corporation is the PMC and the FEED study consultant. |

In November 2011, construction of the facilities started. In September 2011, engineering work was ongoing. In February 2011, engineering works were in progress. On 19 January 2011, the BOO Developer contract was officially signed between ADNOCADNOC and Occidental PetroleumOccidental Petroleum Corporation. On 1 January 2011, the EPC contract was awarded to Dodsal Engineering and ConstructionDodsal Engineering and Construction . Site preparations and engineering works started. On 22 November 2010, commercial bids for the EPC contract were submitted. Dodsal Engineering and ConstructionDodsal Engineering and Construction was the lowest bidder. On 21 September 2010, technical bids for the EPC contract were submitted (delayed for the second time from 17 August 2010). In July 2010, the ITB for the EPC contract was issued. In June 2010, GascoGasco invited companies to submit their EOI for the EPC contract. The tendering for the project was delayed due to the alteration in the scope of the project related to sulphur transportation. On 21 June 2010, the PMC contract overseeing the overall program was awarded to Fluor CorporationFluor Corporation . In May 2009, Fluor CorporationFluor Corporation completed the FEED study. |
