The Kuwait Styrene Company (TKSC) plans to construct a styrene monomer plant as part of the USD 3 billion Olefins II project, located in Shuaiba Industrial Area, Kuwait. The plant will have a capacity of 450,000 t/y. Ethylene feedstock will be provided by the new ethane cracker which is build as part of the Olefins II project. Fluor CorporationFluor Corporation is the PMC and FEED consultant for the whole Olefins II project. Dow ChemicalDow Chemical is the technology provider. |
| Latest Events |
On 17 August 2009, TKSC announced the beginning of commercial operations. Completion of the project was delayed from July 2009 due to a technical issue with a styrene monomer intermediate storage tank. |

In February 2006, the EPC contract was awarded to Shaw International Group. In June 2005, the ITB for the EPC contract was issued. In November 2004, the FEED contract was awarded to Fluor CorporationFluor Corporation for the whole complex. |

In June 2006, EquateEquate signed a 14-year, USD 2.5 billion financing loan with 33 regional and international banks with pricing ranging from 50-70 basis point (bp). Societe GeneraleSociete Generale is the financial adviser. |
