Dubai's solar plant will be UAE's second solar power station. MasdarMasdarLoading...'s Shams 1 power station in Abu Dhabi is the first solar plant to be constructed in the GCC region.

Lahmeyer International will carry out the feasibility study.

Latest Events On 5 April 2012, the request for EOIs for the EPC contract was issued.

On 15 April 2012, companies submitted their EOIs for the EPC contract.

By the end of April 2012, the RFQ for the EPC contract was issued.

By the end of May 2012, companies are expected to submit their pre-qualification documents for the EPC contract.

In June 2012, the RFP for the construction contract is expected to be issued.

In Q3 2012, the EPC contract is expected to be awarded.

In Q4 2013, the project is expected to be completed.
Previous Events In Q1 2012, the feasibility study was completed.

In April 2011, the project was put on hold with no expected date to resume. The ITB for the construction contract was previously expected to be issued in 2011.

In March 2011, the feasibility study was in progress. Potential sites for the project were under evaluation. The plant will use either the photovoltaic or thermal solar technology.

In 2009, Lahmeyer International was appointed to advise on the project location and carry out the feasibility study.

On 5 August 2008, bidders submitted their proposals for the feasibility study contract.

In June 2008, ITB for the feasibility study contract was issued.
