Ruwais Fertilizer IndustriesRuwais Fertilizer Industries (FertilFertil ) plans to expand the fertilizer complex in Ruwais, west of Abu Dhabi. The plant will have a capacity of 2,000 t/d of ammonia and 3,500 t/d of urea. Gas feedstock will be supplied from the GascoGasco operated Asab, Bab and Thamama C fields. Jacobs EngineeringJacobs Engineering is the feasibility study consultant. UhdeUhde is the technology licensor for the plant. |

In December 2010, main construction of the facilities started. In October 2010, engineering works were in progress. In October 2009, the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contract was awarded to Samsung EngineeringSamsung Engineering and Construction Company. On 7 September 2009, bidders submitted their commercial proposals for the EPC and technology contract (delayed for the second time from July 2009). On 18 December 2008, bidders submitted their technical proposals for the EPC contract. In August 2008, four companies were prequalified for the EPC contract. In 2007, the project was being reconsidered by the shareholders. FertilFertil invited shortlisted companies to submit expressions of interest for the combined FEED and EPC contract. |
