| Background |
The JV of ADNOCADNOC and Occidental Petroleum CorporationOccidental Petroleum Corporation plans to construct a sulphur handling and export terminal in the Ruwais Industrial Area, located approximately 165 km west southwest of Abu Dhabi, UAE. The project is package 8 of the Shah Sour Gas Field Development project. It belongs to the series of developments that aim at increasing the sulphur capacity of Ruwais Port to 20,000 t/d. In September 2011, construction of the facilities started. In August 2011, engineering work was ongoing. On 31 May 2011, a sub-contract to design and build 21 mooring and berthing dolphins was awarded to Six Construct. On 3 May 2011, the EPC contract was officially signed between ADNOCADNOC and the Consortium of Techint Cimimontubi S.p.A. and Al Jaber GroupAl Jaber Group and engineering work started. In April 2011, mobilization work was ongoing. On 19 January 2011, the BOO Developer contract was officially signed between ADNOCADNOC and Occidental Petroleum CorporationOccidental Petroleum Corporation . On 28 December 2010, the EPC contract was awarded to the Consortium of Techint Cimimontubi S.p.A. and Al Jaber GroupAl Jaber Group . On 4 October 2010, commercial bids for the EPC contract were submitted (delayed from 29 September 2010). The JV of Techint and Al Jaber GroupAl Jaber Group was the frontrunner. On 1 August 2010, technical bids for the EPC contract were submitted (delayed for the third time from 6 July 2010). In June 2010, the ITB for the EPC contract was issued. The tendering process was delayed due to the alteration in the scope of the project related to sulphur transportation. On 10 May 2010, companies submitted their EOI for the EPC contract. In the beginning of Q3 2009, the FEED study was completed. |
