Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development is developing Sidra Medical and Research Center in the Education City located in Sidra, west of Doha. Sidra Hospital is the first facility to be constructed in this complex. It will be a nine-storey hospital that comprises 412 beds. An accommodation for 350 nurses will also be built. Qatar Foundation has future plans to expand the hospital's capacity to 550 beds and double the sizes of the Outpatient Clinic and research facilities. Kuwait's KEO International ConsultantsKEO International Consultants is the PMC, Pelli Clarke Pelli and Associates is the architect, and Ellerbe Becket is the design consultant. |
| Current Status |
In H1 2010, the concrete works of the main hospital (executed by the subcontractor WEN Holding) are expected to be completed. In February 2011, the clinics are expected to be completed. The project is expected to be completed in 2012. In May 2008, construction started. In Q2 2008, the schematic design was completed. In January 2008, the joint venture of Spain's Obrascon Huarte Lain (55%) and ContrackContrack (45%) was awarded the construction contract. |
