VIENNA--The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries is unlikely to agree on its new secretary general at Thursday's meeting, Kuwait's oil minister said Thursday.
"All the four candidates are qualified for the job, but the way I see I don't the matter will be resolved at today's meeting," Hani Abdulaziz Hussain told reporters in Vienna ahead of the producer group's meeting.
Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq and Venezuela have all put forward nominees to replace incumbent Secretary General Abdalla Salem el-Badri, who is set to leave the post at the end of the year.
