RIYADH: A 72- year-old Saudi man died and two others were infected with the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) on Tuesday, the Ministry of Health announced Wednesday.

According to an official from the Ministry of Health, the death was in Hail. The patient had been suffering from other chronic diseases at the time of his admission to te hospital.

The two new cases were a 75-year-old Saudi man in Hofuf and an 84-year-old Saudi man in Alfalaj. The official said the patient in Alfalaj contracted the disease from a sick camel in the area.

Medical reports said both the patients are out of danger and their conditions are stable.

With the new incidences, the number of cases in the Kingdom since June 2012 has risen to 1,404, which includes 597 deaths. A total of 16 patients are currently under treatment at various hospitals in the Kingdom.
