DUBAI, October 21, 2013: BeyondTrust, the security industry's only provider of Context-Aware Security Intelligence, is expanding into the GCC in the strategic economic hub of Dubai. The company's growth has spurned the office expansion, reflecting the demand for security intelligence in the region. Aside from its two distributors Comguard and Bulwark Technologies, distributors of network and IT security products across the Middle East region, the US based company has also appointed Sudarshan Avadhany as its Sales Director MENA.
"We are excited about the opportunities that the Middle East holds for us," said Brent Thurrell, Vice President, EMEAI and APAC. "Our expansion into the region will allow us to increase our capabilities in key areas that align with our future growth plans. We are pleased about the growth we are experiencing and this move represents a commitment to our success."
Cyber-attacks in the region have mostly targeted the banking sector, including the ATM and Internet banking applications, in the UAE. Earlier this year the UAE Ministry of Interior revealed that the banking sector topped the list with 35 percent share of attacks, while 65 percent of attacks were launched against the government's e-services, telecommunication systems and educational institutions.
BeyondTrust will exhibit its full portfolio of security products at this year's Gitex Technology Week, while also discussing trends and dispensing advice on security in the region. The company's customers include eight of the world's 10 largest banks, eight of the world's 10 largest aerospace and defense firms, and 7 of the 10 largest U.S. pharmaceutical companies, as well as renowned universities across the globe.
"The Gulf region is a prime target for cyber-criminals due to its economic strength and widespread use of social media, but if businesses take smart precautions to reinforce their defenses both inside and out these risks may be avoided. This is what we want our regional customers to know and understand this Gitex," said Thurrell.
Avadhany who will be at the helm in the Middle East has 10 years' international business development experience across the Middle East and South East Asia, helping companies establish an international presence in various business development and sales roles. He will be responsible for distribution deals and sales in the region.
