Real estate deals to pick up, says report

DOHA: The final week of January 2013 saw 28.7 percent decline in real estate transactions, Ezdan Holding's weekly real estate report noted. However, the report forecast an increasing number of transactions in the coming weeks.

Doha Municipality ranked first in terms of trading value, reaching QR222m this week compared to QR311.2m in the previous week through closing a total of 32 deals compared to 45 the previous week. The value of the top deal in Doha Municipality was QR58m.

Al Rayyan Municipality stood second in terms of transactions at a total value of QR80.4m. The value of transactions fell by 21.5 percent compared to the previous week. The price of a top deal in Rayyan was QR8.3m. Al Wakrah Municipality came third. The price of a top deal in Al Wakrah was QR28m from the sale of a plot with an area of 2.475 square metres, calculating the price at QR11,300 per square metre, and a residential house of 1,187 square metres, sold for QR3.5m.

Umm Salal Municipality saw total transactions with a value of QR37.1m, accounting for 8.1 percent of the total 17 transactions of the week. Umm Salal's total transaction value declined 50 percent this week, compared to the previous week.

The price of the top deal in Umm Salal was QR3.6m from the sale of a plot in Umm Abiriyah with an area of 1,696 square metres, calculating the price at QR2,122 per square metre. Another major deal was the sale of a plot the same place with an area of 1,803 square metres at QR3.5m.

The biggest deal of the week was the sale of a residential building Rawdat AlKeil area of Doha Municipality for QR58m.
