Anthony Younes, CEO at Chillout Productions said: "The Emirates Airline sponsorship adds to the allure of the Dubai Jazz Festival and we are very pleased to be associated with a highly acclaimed international brand over the next five years. The 2013 edition of the Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival will include some of the finest musicians who will perform a diverse portfolio of musical genres. We invite music lovers from around the region to attend this special event that will offer much more than jazz."
Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, Emirates' Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, Gulf, Middle East & Iran said: "Emirates has a longstanding relationship with the Jazz Festival through our frequent flyer programme, Skywards. By entering this new five-year sponsorship agreement, Emirates is demonstrating its commitment to this popular attraction on the Dubai events calendar. With our extensive network across six continents, we connect people on so many different levels, and music is very much part of that."
"The Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival has grown remarkably over the years. The festival will be hosted at Dubai Festival City for the second year running due to the outstanding venue that played host to over 48,000 fans during last year's event. Throughout the 2013 edition, we are expecting more than 50,000 fans to attend from the UAE and neighboring GCC countries," added Younes.
The 11th edition of the festival will feature legendary British rock band Deep Purple as one of the key headlining acts who are set to perform on 21st February 2013. Considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and hard rock, Deep Purple were once listed by the Guinness Book of World Records as 'the globe's loudest band'. The band's current lineup consists of Ian Gillan (lead vocals), Steve Morse (guitar), Ian Paice (drums), Roger Glover (bass) and Don Airey (keyboards).
"Next year marks the band's comeback with the release of a brand new album. At the Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival, Deep Purple will play a number of their renowned classic tracks, including Smoke On The Water, Highway Star, Child In Time, Hush and Perfect Strangers, to name a few," commented Younes.
Last year, the band received the Innovator Award at the 2011 Classic Rock Awards in London. The band is nominated for America's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2013.
"Deep Purple is one of the four headlining acts at next year's Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival. The programme also includes nights at the venue's Jazz Garden, where a wide array of Jazz, Blues, Soul and R&B performers are set to keep fans entertained. More exciting announcements for the rest of the headlining artists are coming up very soon," concluded Younes.

About Dubai Jazz FestivalâPassionate about Jazz and music, the management and team at Chillout Productions felt that there was a gap in the market for Jazz and similar genre of music in the region. Based on extensive research conducted over two years, the theme of "Much more than Jazz" was introduced for the first time with the initiation of the Dubai Jazz Festival in 2003, which has now grown to an annual icon featuring world-class artists and performers covering all genres of Jazz music as diverse as blues, funk, swing, acid, rock, contemporary, modern, and fusion. The Dubai Jazz Festivalâ is not only a music festival, but also a system for binging jazz to large audiences that wouldn't normally hear it. The concept was based on two elements: corporate sponsorship and programming that combines jazz and other music genres. Its aim was to be the most exciting, groundbreaking and accessible festival of the performing arts in the region, promoting a diversity of cultural musical genres, and presenting the highest possible international standard to the widest feasible audience. Another fundamental element on the festival agenda was to reflect international culture to audiences through new and artistic music concepts. The festival actively ensures opportunities for all sections of the regional cultures to experience and enjoy music as the world's unified language.
The festival successfully evolved throughout its ten years of existence expanding its artists' roster to cover nearly every imaginable music style. With its continuous endeavor to offer more exciting music events to the public, the festival launched the first edition of the Jazz World - a fresh creative concept of street entertainment, with free concerts for all, preceding the Jazz Garden activities and the main concerts, with bands flocking from all over the globe adding on to the unique compilation of local talents. The Dubai Jazz Festival is now the most popular multi-day festival in the region gathering local, regional and international reputation, contributing in publicizing the Middle East and Gulf region as a hub for quality live entertainment and festivals with standards. It continues its tradition of initiating fresh and exciting concepts to make the live entertainment experience even more exhilarating for fans.
