NPCC places order for construction of Vessel "DLS-4200"

Abu Dhabi, June 20th, 2010 (WAM) -- National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC), Abu Dhabi has placed an order on Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. (ZPMC) , Shanghai, China for construction of a Self Propelled Heavy Lift Pipe Lay Vessel "DLS-4200", scheduled for delivery by 3rd quarter of 2012.

The contract was signed by Aqeel Madhi, Chief Executive Officer of NPCC, and Cao Wenfa, Vice President of ZPMC at Abu Dhabi on 9th June 2010.

This order is part of an ambitious USD 400 Million Marine Fleet Expansion Programme undertaken by NPCC to compete in the global market.

DLS-4200 is designed by Ulstein Sea of Solutions (USOS) and the design is approved by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). It will be one of the biggest vessels of its kind, combining S-lay Double Joints Pipe lay operations with 4200 sT lifting capacity.

The Principal Dimensions of DLS-4200 are: Length = 196.90 m, Breadth = 43.40 m, Depth = 19.60 m, Draught = 7.50 m DLS-4200 will be constructed to meet all National and International Regulations applicable to Special Purpose Ships. She will be registered at Abu Dhabi and classed by ABS and is designed to operate worldwide and can accommodate 350 persons.

Initially, DLS-4200 will be equipped with a mooring system. Future upgrade to Dynamic Positioning Capability (DPS-2) is envisaged and catered for in the design.
