Umm Al Emarat Park has launched its third season with a raft of community events. The new season will kick off on October 14 with an event called White Cane Day, which aims to recognise the achievements of visually impaired people.

Hosted by Emirates Society of Ophthalmology in partnership with Emirates Medical Association, the event will also feature a special performance by Emirati singing sensation Khalifa Naser.

Activities galore

Also returning to the park this month is the popular Ripe Market, which will open on October 28 and run every Saturday between 3 and 9pm.

Another event to look forward to this month is Festember which will showcase local designers and culinary talent. Lana’s on the Green Fall-o-ween extravaganza will be held at the Amphitheatre on October 20 where kids can enjoy free movie screenings every weekend.

For fitness fans, the outdoor season will kick off with Yasalam’s Get Driver Fit fitness programme with free HIIT and yoga classes every Monday and Friday besides free community run and walk as part of Daman’s ActiveLife.

The highlights of November include Hakaya Misk, an interactive event dedicated to the art of story-telling and Mini Dash, a short distance relay race for children.

Several arts and cultural events are also lined up at the park. These include the display of a Quran manuscript, said to be one of the oldest surviving fragments of the holy book. An interactive digital version of it will be exclusively displayed to the public in the capital for the first time. Abdessalem Khabir, park manager, said; “We are thrilled to introduce new and remarkable events to Abu Dhabi’s community. We welcome new concepts and are excited to bring back some of Abu Dhabi’s favourite anchor events to the park for another season.”

Since its opening in 2015, Umm Al Emarat Park, formerly known as Mushrif Park, has been host to over 180 events including concerts, charity runs, art exhibitions and food festivals.
