Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh - The Future Investment Initiative (FII), to be held by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh next week , will play host to leading healthcare professionals as they discuss transformations within the healthcare industry as a result of innovation and technological advances.

The FII, held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammad bin Salman Al-Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs and Chairman of PIF, is a pioneering platform that will bring together over 2,000 delegates and world-renowned business leaders to review new trends, opportunities, and challenges that will shape the future world economy.

Oliver Wyman, a FII knowledge partner, will be leading the event’s healthcare panel, displaying its extensive expertise in this field. Each year, the management consultancy organises a highly successful Health Innovation Summit where 400 C suite executives debate the future of this important industry. The Summit is a culmination of efforts by the Oliver Wyman Health Innovation Center (OWHIC), which is a cross-industry community whose mission is to identify and disseminate the ideas and practices that will transform healthcare.

At FII, Oliver Wyman will steer the discussions on the future of healthcare investments and innovation from two distinct angles. The first panel will explore the new innovative business models within the industry that are enabling greater cross-sector collaboration, particularly in terms of insurance and life sciences. The panellists will highlight in their discussions the ways in which financiers can allocate more to this critical industry.

The second angle will analyse the impact of science and technology on the industry, and how these components will continue to reshape the sector. The onset of technology, especially in areas of genomics and artificial intelligence (AI), has created both change and opportunity for industry players and investors alike. AI is increasingly used in care delivery and diagnostics, while genomics is fast becoming an integral part of healthcare and represents an attractive opportunity for investors worldwide.

Dr. Sven Olaf-Vathje, who heads Oliver Wyman’s Health & Life Sciences practice in the Middle East and Africa, said “We are delighted about leading the healthcare panel at this important event. The healthcare industry is going through an industrial revolution right now. Digitization and unprecedented access to data are empowering exciting new business models. The increasing deployment of technology in healthcare will change access and quality standards of care, and it provides exciting investment opportunities for investors looking for long-term value.”

Organized by PIF, the FII will take place from 24th to 26th October 2017 in Riyadh. The invitation-only event will bring together internationally-renowned business and investment leaders to explore the new trends, opportunities and challenges that will shape the world economy and investment environment over the coming decades.
