Game-changers look to influence tomorrow's agenda-setters at Rixos Bab Al Bahr, Ras Al Khaimah, on September 27, 2017

Guy Kawasaki headlines diverse new age line up, with debates to centre on entrepreneurship, women empowerment and sustainability

Ras Al Khaimah, UAE - Ras Al Khaimah is readying to host one of the region’s most powerful line-ups of business and private sector game-changers as the countdown begins to the second Young Global Leaders Summit (YGLS), which runs at the five-star Rixos Bab Al Bahr resort on September 27, 2017.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah and headlined by Silicon Valley’s marketing guru Guy Kawasaki, the speaker and moderator line-up features 17 entrepreneurs, angel financiers and public sector transformers who have driven seismic change across nine nations including the Middle East and Africa. “This is a line-up which can motivate and drive change among the UAE’s own expanding SME base, and as such, is a one-day summit which could well have a lasting impact on the country’s own economic diversification drive,” said Haitham Mattar, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), the summit’s mainline sponsor.

With speakers from as far afield as the USA, Canada and Europe and as close to home as Pakistan, India, Jordan and Rwanda, the diverse line-up includes seven women all expected to address an audience of 500 encompassing country ambassadors, and Vice Presidents of some of the UAE’s leading blue-chips including Shurooq, United Health Group and Mastercard.

“The speaker diversity reflects the inclusiveness of the population of the UAE and Ras Al Khaimah and the readiness of the country, and this destination, to welcome thought-leaders of varying cultures and their wide-ranging mediums,” added Mattar.

The Young Global Leaders Summit has already carved out a reputation as the most respected forum of its kind for tomorrow’s world leaders. This year, the summit will focus on leadership, youth and entrepreneurship, the empowerment of women to effect social change as well as sustainability, science, new media, education, corporate culture and corporate social responsibility.

“The panels and guests will focus their minds on the issues which are being increasingly raised by today’s generation of change-seekers,” said Lorenzo Jooris, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of the regional business and policy magazine ‘Leaders Middle East’, which organises the event.

“We anticipate some lively and stimulating debate which will give us all insights into the business and societal evolvement increasingly driven by a heightened sense of social awareness.”

Moderating the trio of thought-provoking session alongside Kawasaki are: the founder of the UAE’s largest law firm, Essam Al Tamimi; Moustafa Hamwi, Chief Energy Officer of the online inspirational talk show Passion Sundays and entrepreneur and coach Nicolai Tillisch who authored the bestselling ‘Effective Business in the Gulf’ book.
