15 June 2017
Oman's Rural Areas Electricity Company (RAECO) has sought consultancy services for the development of renewable energy in existing generation systems.

Documents can be collected till 29 June 2017 and the last date for submission is 20 July 2017, according to a public invite.

A December 2016 report in the local English language daily Oman Observer quoted Qais Saud al Zakwani, Executive President and Member, RAECO as saying the company plans to develop several small-scale plants providing 26 MW of total generation capacity. The report said 10 sites have been identified for the implementation of renewable energy projects under RAECO's 2017-2021 five-year business plan.

Earlier this month, Thomson Reuters Projects reported that Oman Power and Water Procurement Company invited proposals to provide advisory services - legal, financial and commercial - for the country's first solar photovoltaic Independent Power Project (IPP) with a total capacity of 200 MW.
