Qatar-based UrbaCon Trading & Contracting through its CEO has called for more investments in healthcare in the Gulf States, as healthcare plays a vital role in building up a strong economy.

In a statement today commenting on the ongoing Arab Health Exhibition in Dubai, Moataz Al-Khayyat, CEO of UrbaCon, has said that "the investment in the health sector significantly supports the Gulf economy so investments should be increased including building of new hospitals and medical research facilities."

"As an example, Qatar spent $5.2bn (QAR19bn) on healthcare in 2015 on private and public projects, so we can imagine the importance of this sector as it leads to an improvement in labor productivity and output per worker", added Al Khayyat.

Al Kayyat has also said the Dubai-based Arab Health Exhibition is a great opportunity for the private sector to discuss how we could develop this important sector," adding that the growing population will need more and more health infrastructure in GCC in the coming years and the private sector can help to increase the modern healthcare infrastructure."

UrbaCon Trading & Contracting has been involved in several huge projects over the last few years and has become one of the most respected building contractors in Qatar. In addition to the Mall of Qatar, included among its projects are the Banana Island Resort, the Sheraton Doha Hotel and Convention Center, and the Lekhwiya Stadium at Al Duhail.

UrbaCon is one of several companies owned by Mr. Al-Khayat. These companies include general contracting, commercial and residential developments, building materials, various trading companies, hospitals and restaurants with operations in the Middle East.
